Who are we?

EnVie Végane is a family and independent grocery store based in Strasbourg in the historic district of Krutenau.

The Concept:

EnVie Végane is a grocery store with a local, ethical, and benevolent approach.

Starting from the observation that being vegan forced us to go to several places to do our grocery shopping and to regularly check the labels, we realized that there was a serious lack of business that focused solely on vegan products.

Our promise is therefore simple, to shop with your eyes closed in a single place! You will find in the shop a varied choice of food products, cosmetics, and cleaning products but also cat and dog food, all guaranteed 100% vegan.

More than 1,000 references await you, whether you are vegetarian, vegan or otherwise, you are bound to find what you are looking for!

The Name:

One of our first challenges was to find the name of our future grocery store. We wanted an equivocal name, mentioning the fact that it is vegan and that conveys our values. After weeks without inspiration, it is literally in our dreams that the evidence appeared! The shop was to be called EnVie Végane.

This name can be read in french in two ways:

First of all, it represents the desire, « l’envie » in french. The desire to indulge yourselves with your eyes closed, without spending your time reading the labels to make sure that the product offered is indeed vegan.

But it can also be read in two words, « en » and « vie« , which means « in life » or « alive » because this is the most important purpose of all the products we offer. Whatever you take, you are 100% certain that no animal will have been exploited, abused or slaughtered. They are alive and that is what matters most to us.

Then, the addition of the word « végane » has been deliberately Frenchified to emphasize the fact that the vegan movement is here to stay and takes root in French culture.

The Logo:

We wanted an original logo, going against the grain trends of purification and simplification to the detriment of creativity. Our logo represents our mascot, a guinea pig, a female guinea pig even to be precise, named Rosie.

We have adopted many abandoned guinea pigs and have fallen in love with these little companions. As animal lovers and fans of « piggy« , it was obvious that the logo of the grocery store would represent one of them!

The Mascot:

As mentioned in the paragraph above, our mascot is a guinea pig named Rosie. You’ll regularly see her strutting around promoting our products on social media!
